Manchester United have enquired over the availability of Atletico Madrid centre-halves Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin, with the younger of the two stars the more likely to move to Old Trafford, according to ESPN.
The Red Devils are in a period of transition under Jose Mourinho, with their rearguard looking far from secure this season so far.

It is believed that the Portuguese trainer wants to add a new centre-half to his contingent and has put the feelers out to gauge whether either of Atletico’s enforcers could be available.
The report suggests that Godin is not for sale at any price given his importance to the Spanish capital city side, but a big offer could tempt Diego Simeone’s men to part company with Gimenez.
The Uruguayan battler has blossomed at the Vicente Calderon and is being tipped to have a bright future given his experience of Spanish, European and international football at a young age.
United signed David de Gea from Atletico and have also been linked to a host of other players at the La Liga club over recent transfer windows.
