Sporting Lisbon have confirmed on their official website that superstar midfielder Joao Mario has moved to Inter Milan in a €45 million (£38.4 million) deal.
The gifted Portugal international was an essential part of his nation’s side that won Euro 2016 this summer in France and has been heavily linked with a move to both Manchester United and Chelsea this summer.

However, Inter’s rejuvenation under Frank De Boer has continued, with Mario to bolster the Milanese club’s attacking ranks this season.
Able to play on either flan or centrally, the Portuguese star would have been a real asset to both Premier League sides.
Inter have already signed Antonio Candreva and Ever Banega this summer, with a deal to land Brazilian prodigy Gabriel Barbosa also believed to be close to completion.
Mario was believed to be a player United monitored over a prolonged period of time, while the Blues have also been touted with signing him since Antonio Conte’s arrival.
Sporting will be pleased with the fee they have received, which is more than three times what they sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United for.
