Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas have been omitted from Spain’s squad for upcoming international fixtures.
The Iberian nation are set to play Italy in Turin on October 6 before facing Albania in Shkoder on October 9, with new coach Julen Lopetegui naming a star-studded contingent for the games.

However, there was no place for either Mata or Fabregas in the latest Spanish national side reckoning.
The Manchester United playmaker was expected to struggle for game time at Old Trafford following the appointment of Jose Mourinho – who had sold him previously while the pair were at Chelsea.
However, Mata has featured relatively prominently for the Red Devils this season and looks to be getting back to close to his best form at Old Trafford.
The same cannot be said for Fabregas, who is certainly not an automatic choice for Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
The former Barcelona schemer started against Arsenal in the Blues’ last outing but has largely found himself among the substitutes as N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic get the nod to play.
Both Mata and Fabregas face a tough task to get back into Spanish national consideration given the stellar cast in the latest La Roja contingent.
