Wolverhampton Wanderers got off the mark in their Europa League group on Thursday night, when they won 1-0 against Besiktas in Istanbul, and after the match their fans were full of praise for the hero of the night on social media.

Wolves needed a result out in Turkey after losing their opening fixture in the group, and had they lost, their race would almost have been run, so it was to their credit that they were able to perform under pressure.

Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo made some changes to his starting line up to take on the Turkish giants, but despite that the Premier League side were competitive throughout, in a match which looked to be headed for a stalemate from a long way out.

That wouldn’t have been the worst outcome for Wolves to be fair, with this widely considered the toughest match in the section for them in terms of the huge travelling and hostile atmosphere involved.

As the minutes ticked on in Istanbul, and a 0-0 draw seemingly looking inevitable, Wanderers defender Willy Boly popped up with a magical moment in injury time, as he expertly controlled a Ruben Neves cross in the penalty area, before opening his body and coolly slotting home what could be a huge goal in the European campaign of the Molineux outfit.

Wolves are taking the Europa League seriously this season, so the strike from the central defender was a key one, and one which was enjoyed by many of their fans, whether inside the stadium or watching on via television at home.

Understandably, many of those Wanderers supporters were quick to rush onto social media after the game, to highlight how good the strike from Boly was, and just how good a player he is for the Premier League side.
