Australian national team coach Graham Arnold has revealed that Glasgow Celtic on-loan player Daniel Arzani is running again and could be back in action for his country before the end of 2019, according to a report published by The Daily Record.

The 20-year-old suffered a serious ACL injury while on debut for the Hoops in November and has been out since. There is no doubt that this has been a major blow to the player.

Unfortunately for Celtic attacker Arzani, that very game proved to be his only competitive minutes this season. The player is highly-regarded as he is currently contracted to Manchester City and the Hoops have him on loan again next season.

After making his international debut in 2018, Arzani managed to get a place on Australia’s 23-man 2018 World Cup squad. After coming on as a substitute during the Socceroos’ loss to France in Russia, Arzani who was 19 years and 163 days became the youngest player in history to represent Australia at a World Cup.

Arzani’s return will also be a boost for his country. Asian football is getting more and more competitive as proven by the manner in which Qatar surprisingly won the 2019 Asian Cup.

The 2022 World Cup qualification process for the Aussies could be tougher for them than it has been since they entered the Asian Confederation in 2006 and so they will need all their best players available as often as possible from now on.

Celtic fans will hope to see Arzani in their colours in 2019-20, with the versatile attacker an exciting proposition.
