Liverpool will host Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday in their Premier League finale and Jurgen Klopp will be without a number of players for the clash.
The Reds, who will be looking forward to a Champions League final with Real Madrid, will not want to overlook the game with the Seagulls, as their place in next year’s European competition could be at stake.
Klopp’s side know that a point will be enough to secure their place in the tournament, however, should they slip up, Chelsea could capitalise with a result against Newcastle United and book their place, ensuring Liverpool will need to beat the Spanish giants in Kiev to be involved next season.
Looking ahead to their match with Brighton, the German manager has revealed that Adam Lallana could be set to feature, having returned to training this week after a disappointing campaign that has been riddled with injury.
“The perfect thing now would be to start with minutes; we’ll see if we have the opportunity to do that. But [he is] as fit as possible, I would say,” he told the club’s official website.
However, Klopp was more cautious about the availability of Sadio Mane, stating that the Senegal international was a doubt for the match with a new injury concern.
“We will see,” he added.
“It is not the same injury. It’s a fresh problem.”
The injury list continues to grow for the Anfield outfit at the worst possible time with Emre Can still suffering from a back injury, whilst Joe Gomez (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) and Joel Matip (thigh) all remain out for the rest of the season.
