Liverpool head into Sunday’s Premier League clash against Burnley at Anfield knowing that nothing other than three points will do in the race for the title.
With Manchester City winning on Saturday, the Reds find themselves four points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s league leaders.
Liverpool have the added distraction of a Champions League last 16 clash against Bayern Munich in midweek, but Jurgen Klopp will urge the Merseyside outfit to concentrate on the task at hand against Burnley.
The Reds boss has stated that there is a chance that James Milner could play a part in the Premier League clash after returning to training after injury.
The Liverpool fan favourite is a versatile member of Klopp’s squad and someone that could feature in the clash with the Clarets.
“Millie we will have to see. It is Millie, so everything heals quicker with him,” the Liverpool boss told the club’s official website.
“He was already outside yesterday. He had a little muscle issue, but there are still two days to go until the game. I think if you ask Millie he would say, ‘I will be ready’ but we have to see.”
Klopp went on to confirm that Dejan Lovren is in consideration after returning from injury also, but he may lack the required match fitness to start against Burnley.
“Dejan, we have to see,” the Liverpool boss said.
“He was out for a while, so we have to see how his fitness is exactly. He is not injured anymore, he is fit – but how fit, we have to see.”
Liverpool have been short of defensive options of late and as such having Lovren back will be a boost as the Merseyside club go into the most-important part of the season.
The Reds fans are still dreaming of a momentous Premier League title win but for this to become reality three points is needed on Sunday against Burnley.
