Liverpool are reportedly among a host of clubs keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon striker Gelson Dala according to Portuguese media outlet A Bola.
The 22-year-old has started to create a name for himself across Europe and is currently on loan at Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga where he has scored twice in just four games.
This comes after the Angola international netted 17 times in 23 appearances for the Sporting’s B team, along with nine goals in 18 games for his country and it is this terrific strike record that has attracted the likes of the Reds.
Sporting know they have a talent on their hands and is understood that Dala recently penned a contract extension until 2022, which includes a whopping £53million release clause.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a long track record of nurturing young talent and it appears that he likes what he sees in the pacy, powerful frontman and could be poised to make an offer in the January transfer window.
He would face competition from a number clubs across the continent including Bayern Munich, who are also reportedly keen on the striker.
If the move to Anfield was to materialise, it would mark an historic moment as Dala would become only the second Angolan player to appear in the Premier League.
The only one before him was Manucho, who made just the one appearance for Manchester United in the 2008/09 season before being loaned to Hull City, where he would play 13 times in the same campaign.
Of more immediate concern to the Reds is this weekend, when they return to Premier League action in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool will be looking to keep up their perfect start to the season, which sees them sitting top of the table with four wins from four games so far.
