Liverpool have reportedly identified Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa as a potential summer signing, according to Spanish news site Marca.
The 27-year-old, who is on the fringe of receiving a call-up to the Spanish national team, is known for his confidence on the ball and impressive dribbling skills.
It is believed that Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the defensive midfielder.
Mesa currently has a £26 million release clause in his contract but Las Palmas are reportedly willing to do business for around £8.5m.
Liverpool, who have suffered from a lack of depth in the defensive midfield area this season will be looking for substantial improvements.
It is suggested that the Reds could be recruiting to replace Emre Can who has 18 months left on his contract.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently fourth in the Premier League table. They travel to the Etihad Stadium this weekend and a win could see them overtake Manchester City and Spurs.
