Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has confirmed that a player from the club has tested positive for coronavirus, Standard Sport reported.
Spurs were the only Premier League club to report a positive case in the fifth round of testing in which 1197 players and staff members were tested across the 20 clubs in the league.
Tottenham had confirmed a positive case earlier this week and Kane clarified that it was an unnamed player and not a staff member who had contracted the virus.
The English striker claimed that Spurs have trained normally as per the Premier League guidelines since the case was confirmed.
“Obviously all I can do, and all the rest of the players can do, is listen to the advice from the Premier League, from the doctors, and that’s what we’re taking.
“”It’s obviously unfortunate that one of our players tested positive, but we’re just going with the guidelines, going with what the Premier League are telling us.
“”We carry on training as we have done and go from there really,” Kane revealed in an interview with Sky Sports.
Kane is one of the players who has benefited from the break caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus as it has enabled him to recover from a hamstring injury.
Spurs’ talisman had undergone surgery on New Year’s Day and was expected to miss a majority of the matches which have been postponed due to the pandemic.
Tottenham return to Premier League action on 19th June when they host Manchester United followed by a visit by West Ham United.
Kane and his teammates will look to get off to a fast restart if they are to secure a Champions League berth with the club currently in eighth place, seven points off fourth placed Chelsea.
