Leicester City host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Friday evening, and the home side have two defensive rocks available to them for the fixture.
The Foxes will go in search of a fifth successive top flight victory, with their form soaring since Brendan Rodgers arrived at the King Power Stadium, and should they prove to be victorious in the contest, they will consolidate their seventh placed position ahead of the rest of the weekend matches.
Leicester have set their stall out to finish the best of the rest outside the big six, a spot which should ensure Europa League football next season, and their emphatic win at Huddersfield Town last week has set them up nicely.
The Foxes have shown some wonderful attacking football under Rodgers, but they could improve defensively and with that in mind they will pleased to know that Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are back available for this contest.
The Leicester boss was forced to go with Caglar Soyuncu at the John Smith’s Stadium last weekend and although he played relatively well, he did give away the penalty that the Terriers scored from.
With that in mind, Rodgers will be pleased to have his defensive pair back, and he confirmed the situation with the Leicester duo when he addressed the media ahead of the game.
“Harry is back in the squad and Evans has trained with the squad this week,” the Foxes official website quote him as saying.
That leaves Daniel Amartey and Marc Albrighton as the two who will miss out on the fixture, and Rodgers also provided an update on where they are with their recoveries.
“Daniel is obviously with the medical and sports science team so we’ll see how that goes between now and the end of the season.
“Marc has been training as well over the last week or so, so that’s very, very good.”
