Leeds United team news: Update on Casilla, Phillips ahead of Boro clash

Leeds United are due to play against relegation-threatened Middlesbrough in a Championship game at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night, with only three points good enough for the Yorkshire outfit.

The Whites enter the game seven points adrift of leaders West Bromwich Albion after the Baggies beat Preston 2-0 on Tuesday.

However, Leeds have a perfect opportunity to claim three points and a third consecutive league win.

The two teams last met in the Championship in November at Elland Road and Leeds went on to win the game 4-0 through a brace from Mateusz Klich and goals from Patrick Bamford and Helder Costa.

Boro are not in good form at the moment and have not won since their 2-0 victory against Preston on New Years’ Day.

Since then, they have suffered four draws and four defeats.

Kiko Casilla sustained a hand injury whilst Kalvin Phillips picked up a calf knock during the 1-0 victory over Reading on Saturday, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The report added that Adam Forshaw will be out of action for the rest of the season after having undergone hip surgery.

However, the Leeds official website has stated that Marcelo Bielsa is confidence his goalkeeper and key midfielder will be fit to feature.

Casilla’s injury did not appear to be serious as he was able to continue against Reading.

Phillips however had to leave the field after 37 minutes and fans of the Whites will be hoping that his injury is not serious.

The 24-year-old is one of the best players in the Leeds team and a critical figure as the Yorkshire side look to ensure that they gain automatic promotion.
