Leeds United have completed the signing of highly-rated youngster Oliver Sarkic from Portuguese outfit Benfica for an undisclosed fee, with the forward putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the club has confirmed.

Back in September, the 20-year-old arrived on loan from the Estadio da Luz until the end of December and has impressed sufficiently to earn a permanent move to the Yorkshire club.

Whilst Sarkic is yet to be handed his first-team debut by Whites boss Thomas Christiansen, he has become a mainstay in Leeds’ under-23 side and got his name on the scoresheet for Carlos Corberan’s men during Thursday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Hull City.

The forward, who featured 44 times for the Benfica ‘B’ team, has also represented his country, Montenegro at various youth levels and is currently an under-21 international, for whom he has scored three times in his seven appearances.

Sarkic took to Twitter to express his delight at completing his move to Elland Road and Leeds fans were quick to welcome the promising forward to the club with many believing that the former Benfica man has what it takes to earn a first-team call-up from Christiansen.
