Leeds United are set to throw their hat in the ring to sign Juventus youngster Stephy Mavididi on loan, according to TeamTalk.
The Whites are continually looking to bolster their squad ahead of another attempt to make it into the Premier League, with options in front of goal one of the priorities they are looking to address, having seen a promising campaign peter out last season when forwards were injured.
It would appear that one man Leeds are targeting is the former Arsenal attacker Mavididi, a man who joined Juventus last summer and impressed in the under-23s in Turin during the campaign just concluded.
Such was the impact he made with the younger age groups amidst the ranks of the ‘Old Lady’, he was given his senior debut towards the end of a promising season, a move which alerted the Whites to his capabilities.
Leeds are understood to be one of a number of clubs in England who have made enquiries to take the 21-year-old on loan for the upcoming campaign, as they go in search of the man who can deliver the goals to fire them back to the big time.
If the Whites are to get the England youth international they are going to need to fend off a host of teams chasing him.
If Mavididi does make his way to Elland Road, he will need to get off to a fast start to impress the Leeds faithful, as his goalscoring record in England in his career to date does not look awe inspiring.
Although he has been prolific for both Arsenal and Juventus at youth level, in two loan spells with Preston North End and Charlton Athletic, he notched just twice in 31 appearances, and the Whites will need a much better output than that if they are going to put their faith in him.
