Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford has posted a video of him in back in the gym on Twitter as he continues his recovery from injury.

The attacker picked up a serious knee issue in a match for the Whites’ under-23s earlier in the season, and had to undergo surgery as a result.

That ensured he would be on the sidelines for a significant period of time, but the good news as far as Leeds are concerned, is that judging by the video he appears to be making good progress from the injury.

When he picked up the problem he was ruled out for the remainder of 2018. To date there has been no update about when the former Chelsea and Crystal Palace attacker will return to action, but him being back in the gym has to be a positive sign.

Bamford will be eager to get back on the pitch to make up for an indifferent beginning to his Whites career. Having signed from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window, he failed to showcase his best talents, and then along came the injury which has really set him back.

The England under-21 international has proven his quality in the Championship in the past, when he was involved in a promotion campaign at the Riverside Stadium earlier in his career.

When he signed for Leeds, many people expected him to do the same for the Elland Road outfit, but it hasn’t been able to pan out that way thus far.

Initially Bamford found game time hard to come by due to the wonderful form in the early part of the campaign of Kemar Roofe, and then when the former Oxford forward picked up an injury, the 25-year-old suffered his setback.

Leeds are currently in an ideal position to launch a promotion campaign in the Championship, and getting the striker back after Christmas should boost them in that quest.
