Leeds United were humiliated on Wednesday evening when they were beaten by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium 4-1, with fans criticising one of their main players during the defeat on social media.

Thomas Christiansen decided that he would name an unchanged side for the midweek game after he saw his team overcome Middlesbrough at the weekend.

However, the decision backfired on the Whites manager, with the Elland Road outfit failing to compete with the current Championship leaders.

Leeds fell behind in the 15th minute when Barry Douglas put Wolves in front and Ivan Cavaleiro doubled their lead just ten minutes later.

The Whites had a small chance of getting something from the match when Ezgjan Alioski scored an exquisite volley just after the restart, however, they were reduced to ten men when Ronaldo Vieira was shown his second yellow card of the match.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took advantage of the extra player with Diogo Jota netting to restore their two-goal lead before Helder Costa scored from the penalty spot to finish the job for the Midlanders.

Leeds fans were obviously angry with the team’s performance on social media and decided to criticise Liam Cooper for his individual display.

The Whites captain was solid at the back during their win at Elland Road last weekend against Boro, however, he looked a shadow of himself on Wednesday night.

Cooper has been a regular in Christiansen’s Leeds first-team, but fans have appeared to turn on their skipper after his performance, stating that he needs to leave the club and is not good enough to represent the side.

  2. It is a difficult one for TC.
Our squad is weaker than last year.
We never replaced Wood, Taylor, Green or Bartley with top players.
We recruited on the cheap and kept a chunk of the transfer money we received.
4 vital positions in the team – what can you expect.
My only surprise is that we started the season so well.
We have a mid table squad!
The Chairman will have to learn quickly!

    MOT!
