The recent summer spending spree at Elland Road continued on Tuesday afternoon, when Leeds United announced they had signed Patrick Bamford from Middlesbrough in a deal which could eventually be worth £10 million.

The former Chelsea youngster joins the likes of Lewis Baker, Jack Harrison, Barry Douglas and Jamal Blackman through the door of the Yorkshire club, and their fans are really excited by his arrival.

Bamford has a decent record in the Championship having had successful spells in the division for Middlesbrough in two different campaigns.

The second of those stints was last season where he netted 12 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions, having set about revitalising his career after spells on loan at Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley in the Premier League were best described as unsuccessful.

The former England under-21 striker has been signed to score the goals needed to fire Leeds back into the top flight, and with Marcelo Bielsa having spent to secure a decent supply line to his forwards, there will be pressure on Bamford to find the back of the net regularly in the upcoming season.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, in which time he will hope to lead the Yorkshire outfit back to the Premier League and make them a force to be reckoned with once again.

He may have arrived to his new club fairly late in pre-season, but he could still make a debut for the Whites in their Championship opener against Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds fans will be looking forward to seeing him in action for the first time whenever he makes his debut, and judging by their reaction to the signing on social media, they are expecting some pretty big things from Bamford over the season to come.

Here is some of that reaction:
