It was a Saturday afternoon to forget for Leeds United, with a 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium inflicting a major blow on the club’s chances of a top-six finish.

With play-off rivals Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday both winning, Garry Monk’s men look up against it in the race for potential promotion to the Premier League.

Inconsistent form of late has hurt Leeds, with a section of the Elland Road fan base questioning their manager’s team selection against Burton.

Kalvin Phillips got the nod to play in the centre of midfield alongside Ronald Vieira, with the 21-year-old putting in a forgettable performance.

With Eunan O’Kane on the bench for the visitors, the Leeds fans were baffled as to why Monk persisted with the under-performing midfielder.

As can be seen below, the Whites support were clearly not impressed by Phillips’ showing on a day when the club’s chances of a top six Championship finish may well have disappeared.

  1. Even if we manage to get to play offs, we are not yet good enough to be in the premier league, start again next season!!! Again, again & again. 53 years supported this team, just hope one day I see them back at the top.

  2. This squad is not good enough! Some decent players and mostly loaners! No depth. Mostly kids in midfield, who inidentally should be much better next season. You can’t compete in this division on a shoestring budget. Look at the strength of the other teams round us. We would get murdered in the play offs. Problem is that we will lose our best players in the summer and start all over again with more loaners anspd probably new manager from the Conference League. Let’s just hope that Cellini leaves, soon!
