Leeds United confirmed on their official website on Tuesday that Andrea Radrizzani had taken over full ownership of the club from Massimo Cellino.

Radrizzani had originally purchased 50% of the Yorkshire giants in January and has taken up the option to buy Cellino’s stake.

Fans of Leeds will hope that the takeover signifies a step in the right direction following a number of years of off-field turmoil.

Cellino’s reign was beset by problems almost from the outset, the latest of which means he is currently midway through a 12-month ban from all football related activities.

Radrizzani takes control of the Whites with renewed optimism among the Elland Road faithful after a successful season in the Championship.

Leeds looked set to achieve a play-off place for much of the campaign but a dreadful April saw them drop from fourth to seventh in the table and miss out by five points.

One of the first issues for the new owner to address will be the future of manager Garry Monk, who has led their revival in fortunes superbly this term.
