Leeds United’s playoff dreams hang by a thread after an unceremonious 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday left the Whites unlikely to finish in the top six.

Garry Monk’s men have not shown the standards they are capable of in recent weeks, with inconsistent form seeing the Elland Road outfit slip down to seventh place.

Leeds needed to beat Burton to keep their chances of competing in the play-offs alive, but defeat at the Pirelli Stadium means they need a minor miracle to claw back the deficit.

While some supporters turned on Kalvin Phillips after the loss, attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez was also criticised on social media.

The Spanish playmaker has ben scintillating at times this season but has not been the inspiring figure Monk needs him to be in the final third of late.

A section of the Leeds fans questioned why the former Swansea City attacker was given the nod to start again, with many feeling that Kemar Roofe could have been a better option in the number ten role behind Chris Wood.
