Fulham were held to a 2-2 draw by Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last night, a result which delighted fans of fellow play-off hopefuls Leeds United.

A late Lucas Joao goal for Rovers meant that the Cottagers had to settle for a point and failed to move into the top six.

A win would have left Fulham only three points behind the Whites, who sit fourth after a disappointing 0-0 stalemate against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend.

The London outfit also have a superior goal difference but despite their recent good form they were more than matched by a Blackburn side who seem to have a new lease of life under manager Tony Mowbray.

The draw represented Rovers’ sixth game unbeaten in the league since the Englishman took charge, taking them out of the relegation zone with just nine matches left to play.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be left to wonder what might have been and will see the result as two points dropped.

Leeds fans could not hide their joy at the result from Craven Cottage, particularly given that Fulham snatched two points from them with a 95th minute equaliser just a week ago.
