Leeds United have been linked with a move for Michael Frey of Fenerbahce, but the player is reluctant to move to a Championship club and there is interest from Anderlecht in him, according to Belgian outlet DH.
The 24-year-old has failed to impress since his arrival at the Turkish giants from FC Zurich in 2018. Last season he made just 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.
However, Leeds are in the market to bolster their squad this summer and add firepower to Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad.
However, attracting a player like Frey, who will have international ambitions, could well be a big ask – especially if established clubs on the continent also come knocking.
A move to Belgium is more likely to put him on the radar of the Swiss national team than will a move to Leeds and the English second-tier.
Frey will likely not be expensive and he could be a success in the Championship due to his previous experiences playing in France, Switzerland, Austria and Turkey.
Leeds need to add more depth to their side this summer if they want to finally power their way back to the Premier League.
A move for Frey would be a step in the right direction but it remains to be seen whether he will be willing to join them.
