Leeds United have confirmed on their official website that rising star Callum Nicell has signed a new contact extension through to June 2020 with the Championship club.
The 18-year-old is part of the Whites under-23 side and has impressed as he has come through the ranks at Elland Road.
Nicell has been with the Leeds youth set-up since the age of seven and as such will surely be a fans’ favourite if he makes it through into the senior squad.
The Whites have applied focus on their youth development in recent years, with exciting young players signed from overseas to bolster that part of the club.
Leeds have developed some star names over the generations and Nicell will hope to follow in their footsteps by playing top-level football.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa has shown a willingness to play young players if they are deemed ready to compete, with the likes of Jamie Shackleton getting an opportunity in the Championship this season.
Leeds are top of the table and have the likes of Mateusz Klich, Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw as their first-choice options in the centre of midfield.
