Leeds United seemingly face competition in their reported efforts to land Claudio Ranieri as their next manager, with Crystal Palace also interested in the Italian, according to The Sun.

The Elland Road outfit are in the market for a new trainer after Garry Monk sensationally walked away from the Championship club last month.

In recent days, Ranieri’s odds have dropped as Aitor Karanka looks set to be overlooked, with the Leeds fans on Twitter dreaming of the former Leicester City man becoming their new manager.

Palace are a club without direction at this moment in time as Sam Allardyce resigned from the Selhurst Park post at the end of the Premier League season.

While Burnley boss Sean Dyche has also been linked, Ranieri’s track record would make him an exciting option for the Eagles.

If Palace’s interest in the Italian is concrete, Leeds will surely have to look to other targets as the manager would most-likely pick a Premier League club over one in the Championship.

Leeds have ambitions of making it back to the top tier of English football, with this summer’s managerial appointment set to be critical in the club’s hopes of achieving it.

  1. not necessarily.. Leeds is a bigger club and been stuck in the Championship for so long, that a good challenge for him and rewarding for him if he will be the Manager to get us promoted!

      • Morning my friend – Ranieri has to be first choice and we really need to conclude on this NOW … if not I would go for Alex Sabella … don’t want Clotet (nothing personal) as I see simply a straight swap Orta for Monk

          • Not so much as he hasn’t achieved anything – the fact is that Orta will choose the players and influence team selection – we have allowed Monk and Beattie to leave and replaced them with Bravo and Orta – I am not disputing the fact that Clotet is a capable coach but Ranieri is a different level, an experienced and charismatic man who would invariably be more apt at motivating the team – By every stretch Ranieri is patently the better choice , this is not the time to take a punt on Orta with Clotet fronting up as head coach – a disaster in my opinion

    • Typically we are dragging our heals – and Ranieri will go to Palace and we will end up with Clotet or Ramos

      • we are both hoping the rumor is just that and that he will join us. but it possible he might still come to Leeds looking at things overall..
