Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah and could make a move for the defensive enforcer in January according to The Mirror.

The Reds sit proudly on top of the Premier League table after 11 games of 2016-17 but continue to have defensive issues.

A central defensive partnership of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren has looked promising but the Anfield outfit continue to ship more goals than a title challenger should.

Tah came through the youth ranks at Hamburg before being snapped up by Bundesliga rivals Leverkusen last year.

The 20-year-old has starred in German domestic football and has also featured in the Champions League this term, playing against Tottenham Hotspur twice in the group stage.

A twice-capped Germany international, Tah’s physical presence has been a standout feature at the BayArena and would translate well to the exertions of the Premier League.
