Celtic had to come from behind to beat Hearts 2-1 to win the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon and with it complete another domestic treble, and after the match their fans gushed about their star man on social media.

The Bhoys were nervy and a little timid in a first-half which was devoid of any notable incident as both sides felt each other out, despite only meeting in the league last weekend.

Many judges would have expected Celtic to dominate after a scoreless opening period, but that is not how it panned out, as Ryan Edwards fired the underdogs into a surprise lead, seven minutes after the restart.

That only acted to kick the Bhoys into life however, and they were level not long after when Odsoone Edouard converted a penalty after he was brought down in the box.

The match looked to be squeezing towards extra time when another piece of Celtic history was created. The French forward notched his second of the match with just eight minutes remaining at Hampden Park, to put the Glasgow giants into the lead.

The Bhoys managed to hold out relatively comfortably to secure an unprecedented third treble in as many years, a run of form which has now seen Neil Lennon installed as their permanent manager for next season.

Reaction to that will come later, but on Saturday evening, the only thing the Celtic fans wanted to post about on social media was the man who won the cup for them.

Edouard rarely fails to come to the party in a big match, one of the things he is adored by the Bhoys supporters for, and he certainly didn’t shirk his responsibility in the final at Hampden.

He wrote himself into the Celtic history books, and their fans were quick to jump on Twitter to salute him after another momentous day for the club.
