‘Jekyl and Hyde’ – Some Liverpool fans react to indifferent performance of veteran in Chelsea loss

Liverpool’s bad spell continued with a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening, and after the match their fans took to social media to react to an individual performance in the game.

The Reds are in the middle of a rough trot at the minute, with the loss to the Blues their third in their last four outings in all competitions, after losing 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and 3-0 to Watford in the Premier League.

Liverpool look all set to seal the title domestically, but they were hoping to add further silverware on top of that, as well as the Super Cup and Club World Cup, however that success is not guaranteed now, particularly after falling out of the FA Cup.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp chose to name a side which had a mixture of youngsters, fringe players and first-team regulars against Chelsea, but his team were found wanting in the big moments.

They were behind early on when a Willian shot got through the hands of Adrian, who was in goal in place of Alisson, and then the Blues wrapped up the tie in the second period when Ross Barkley added the icing on the cake.

In between the mistake for the opener and the final whistle, Adrian made a host of saves that ended up keeping the score respectable, which earned him a little bit of sympathy from Liverpool fans despite his blunder for the first goal.

The Spaniard was a key part of the Reds’ early season form when he filled in for Alisson, and although his error put them on the back foot in this cup tie, their supporters offered a reflective balance when they reacted to his display on social media after the final whistle.
