Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has taken to social media to thank the club’s fans for their messages of support after he picked up an ankle injury on Saturday.
The Brazil international was hurt in his team’s 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday and withdrawn after half an hour with what looks like a serious ankle injury.
The Reds fans face a nervous wait to find out the extent of the South American’s injury, with scope for the playmaker to be sidelined for quite some time.
Coutinho thanked all his supporters for their comforting words on Instagram and is expected to undergo a scan on Monday to reveal how serious the blow is.
The former Inter Milan star has been in inspired form this season and is a critical reason behind the Merseyside outfit’s rise to put forward an early season Premier League title challenge.
With Adam Lallana also on the treatment table currently, Jurgen Klopp will hope that Coutinho’s injury is not as serious as first thought.
The Brazilian will certainly miss Liverpool’s League Cup quarter-final against Leeds United on Tuesday night.
