Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has raved about James Rodriguez to The Guardian, amid speculation that the Toffees are among a number of clubs interested in the Real Madrid attacking midfielder.
Marca reported this month that Everton are interested in signing James – who can also operate as a winger – in the summer transfer window.
The report in the Spanish publication claimed of interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal and Manchester United in the Colombia international as well.
Ancelotti worked with the 28-year-old at Madrid and Bayern Munich, and the Italian tactician has said that he likes him a lot, although he has admitted that he does not think that he will leave the Spanish powerhouse this summer.
Ancelotti told The Guardian about James: “James Rodríguez? I like him a lot as a player. When I left Madrid, James Rodríguez followed me to Munich.
“But he followed me as a rumour to Napoli and now he is following me to Everton as a rumour.
“I have to be honest – I like him a lot. But he is a Real Madrid player and I think he will still be a Real Madrid player.”
Everton move this summer?
James has not made a huge impact at Madrid this season, and it is likely that the Spanish and Europe giants will sell him this summer.
According to WhoScored, the attacker has made five starts and three substitute appearances in La Liga for Los Blancos so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
James is a very good and creative player who can score goals and creates chances for his teammates, and he would be a very good signing for Everton and would be able to make an immediate impact on the team.
