Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that club captain Bruno will be fit to face Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday but a number of other defenders will not feature.
The former Valencia enforcer has recently signed a new contract with the promotion-chasing Seagulls and will lead the visitors out at Elland Road this weekend.
However, Brighton will be without three defenders for the clash with Garry Monk’s men, with the most notable being loanee Seb Pocognoli’s absence.
Hughton has delivered his team news in the build-up to the much-anticipated clash with Leeds, with mixed news for the visitors.
“Bruno is fine. Seb [Pocognoli] will miss out, but we expect him to be fit for the Blackburn game after the international break,” the Seagulls boss told the club’s official website.
“Gaetan [Bong] is still out and on his rehab. We’re hoping to push him into training next week, but whether that will also see him available for the Blackburn game, we’ll see.
“With Vegard [Forren], it’s just about getting him up to speed. We’ll look to see if we can get him into an under-23 game as quickly as possible.
“He does have a certain amount of training under his belt. At this moment, he’s probably not where we’d ideally like him to be, but we knew that before he came here.”
With both Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday losing on Friday night, the fight to finish in the top six of the Championship this season looks set to go right down to the final weekends of the campaign.
Leeds have ambitions of catching Brighton in the automatic promotion berths but will need to record three points on home soil to have a chance of challenging for a top-two spot.
