How new signing Patrick Dorgu fared on Manchester United debut against Leicester

Manchester United fought back from a goal down to beat Leicester City 2-1 on Friday in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

It looked like the Red Devils’ miserable run of form would continue at Old Trafford after Bobby De Cordova-Reid headed in the first goal toward the end of a largely dull first half.

However, the hosts came out as a much improved side after the break, as they levelled the scores through Joshua Zirkzee in the 68th minute.

Then in stoppage time, Harry Maguire scored a controversial stoppage-time winner that ensured United’s place in the fifth round of the competition.

How Dorgu fared on debut

Patrick Dorgu arrived at Old Trafford in a deal worth £29.4 million, which Sports View reported a few days ago.

Manager Ruben Amorim handed the 20-year-old his full debut, and surprisingly started him as a right wing-back.

However, Dorgu impressed with his performance in that role. He was on the pitch for 45 minutes and had 47 touches in that time.

The Danish footballer completed 82 percent of his passes and won all his aerial duels.

He lost the ball on 10 occasions, but registered two interceptions and two tackles.

It was a bright debut from Dorgu who linked up well with Diogo Dalot and showcased his pace. Given he was doing so well, it was a surprise when Amorim decided to bring him off at half-time.

The 20-year-old will likely be in action again next week when United travel to north London to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Dorgu has already proven his skills in Serie A with Lecce. Despite his young age, he made 57 appearances across all competitions for the Italian outfit, with five goals and two assists to his name.

Given his impressive start at United, it appears he will also be a huge success in the English top-flight.
