Liverpool won their sixth Champions League title on Saturday evening when they saw off Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid, and after the match their fans raved over the man who made a big impact on the match.
Divock Origi found himself as the hero of the semi-final when he was given the nod to play in front of the injured Roberto Firmino in the second leg of the Reds’ tie against Barcelona.
The Liverpool forward scored a brace that night as the Anfield outfit performed a miracle turnaround, against a side who many laud as the best team in the continent.
Despite those heroics though, Origi found himself sat on the bench for the final, but his part in the Reds’ journey in this competition was not done there.
With Liverpool leading after a Mo Salah penalty in the second minute of the contest, and time on the clock ticking into the last 30 minutes, Jurgen Klopp sent the Belgium international on to replace the tiring Roberto Firmino.
The Reds boss was rewarded for that move five minutes from time, when Origi picked the ball up in the box after Tottenham had failed to clear a set-piece. He worked space for a shot to fire home, and send the Merseyside outfit into a 2-0 lead that they were not to relinquish.
After the disappointment of losing in the final last year, Liverpool were desperate to get their hands on the famous trophy this time around, but even though they didn’t put in their best performance, in fact it was one of their worst of the season, none of their supporters were to mind.
Many of those Reds fans took to social media after the final whistle blew in Madrid to reflect on the triumph, with their new big game star getting plenty of the attention.
