Tottenham Hotspur fans saw their team go down 3-0 against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, but during and after the match their attention focused on a horrible looking injury to their captain Hugo Lloris.
They say it never rains but it pours and that is certainly the case for Spurs, who after a horrendous 7-2 reversal to Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek, were a goal down after barely three minutes at the Amex Stadium, however that was to be the least of their problems.
The opener came when Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris made a poor mistake, dropping a cross right at the feet of Seagulls striker Neal Maupay, but it soon became apparent that in making the error, the France international picked up a nasty looking injury.
Lloris was treated for a number of minutes, and was provided with oxygen as the Spurs medical team took care with what later transpired as a dislocated elbow, which will most likely keep him out of action for much of the remainder of 2019.
This was a second Saturday in succession that the veteran stopper had made a monumental error which led to a goal for the opposition, so already questions were being asked about the state of his suitability between the sticks for Tottenham.
The majority of the Spurs fans who reacted to the injury on social media were sympathetic and supportive, but there were still some who could not forgive the mistake the 32-year-old, especially as their side ended up losing 3-0 after another low-key performance, which bordered on rancid.
Plenty of Tottenham supporters posted their best wishes to their goalkeeper, when the many pictures and videos of the incident began to circle on Twitter, with most of them hoping he is back in action as quickly as possible.
Here are some of those messages:
I don’t wish injury on anyone, but it was Hugo’s fault for flapping about like that, an easy catch. At least it gives the deserved keeper and the deserved captain (Kane) to lead us in this bad time. #THFC #HUGO #LLORIS #BHATOT

Suppose all the hateful Spurs fans will be glad Lloris is out. About to find out how important he is to the club. #THFC

If anyone in their right mind thinks i feel sorry for Lloris broken arm; think again…that was karma telling him he had it coming. If that is going to make us see the last of him so be it.
