Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen has ‘already agreed to terms’ about joining Real Madrid, according to Danny Mills.
The former Leeds United right-back-turned-pundit revealed to Football Insider that he is convinced the Denmark international would have already had an offer on the table from the Spanish giants before making public comments regarding his future.
Eriksen managed to send Spurs fans into a frenzy of panic earlier this month when speaking to Danish media outlet Ekstra Bladet as he revealed that he would like to try a new challenge.
Speaking about the decision the playmaker made to speak out, Mills stated that it was a sign that there were offers on the table and it would now only be down to Daniel Levy to try and get the best transfer fee for him.
“He’s already agreed terms with Real Madrid, that’s how it appears to me,” he said.
“Players only tend to go public with their intention to leave when there is an offer or two on the table.
“Christian Eriksen will know who is knocking on the door, and he will certainly know who are the clubs that are interested. He has specifically named Real Madrid, which suggests he has an agreement with the club, but a fee needs to be agreed.
“That will not be easy, as Daniel Levy will want top dollar for a player who has had a successful season and whose stock is incredibly high at the moment.”
With Eriksen’s current contract situation still in the air – he only has one year left to run on his present deal (Football.London)- Levy will have a rather difficult decision on his hands and one that could cause Mauricio Pochettino problems moving forward.
There is no doubt that the Dane has been instrumental for Spurs over the years, however, they surely do not want to be missing out on a transfer fee for him should he decide to leave the club for nothing at the end of next season.
Whilst it remains to be seen regarding what happens over the summer months, it will be one that will certainly have a few interesting developments as the days and weeks roll by.
