Dietmar Hamann believes that Jose Mourinho might be able to guide Tottenham Hotspur to the Premier League title this season.
This season is poised to be one of the most memorable in recent memory with the absence of crowds looking to be affecting the outcomes of games. As things stand, Everton leads the standings ahead of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leicester City.
Not many would have expected the table to look this way after six games. The pre-season title favourites- Liverpool and Manchester City are experiencing injury problems and this could give opportunities to the likes of Tottenham and Everton to do well this season.
Liverpool could have to make do without the services of Virgil van Dijk for the rest of the season as the Dutchman was injured in the Merseyside derby two weeks ago. The Reds could also be set to lose the services of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which is set to start in January 2021.
Spurs’ attacking trio could be key
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s attacking combination of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have established themselves as arguably the best partnership in the Premier League. Each have struck 10 goals in the league so far.
“The team I really like at the moment is Spurs,” said Hamann as per TalkSport.
“I watched them on Monday [in the 1-0 win at Burnley] and they are a very organised team
“If they are in the mix come March, April, I think Mourinho may have one last hurrah in him.”
Spurs have yet to win a top-flight title since 1961 but it will undoubtedly be a major achievement if Mourinho does it for them this season.
