Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has taken to Twitter and suggested that Spanish giants Real Madrid will make a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Los Blancos are expected to undergo a major revolution during the summer transfer window. They are a shadow of the team that they were during the past three seasons as they won three consecutive Champions League titles. This was best exemplified by the way in which they were thrashed 4-1 by Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League last week. In terms of La Liga, Madrid are languishing in third position on the standings. After 27 games, they are virtually out of the title race as they trail trend-setters Barcelona by 12 points.

Eriksen has been on the books of Ajax since 2013 when he arrived from Ajax. He has since transformed into one of the best midfielders in the English top-flight, having so far scored an impressive 63 goals and recorded 81 assists from 264 appearances in all competitions.

The Denmark international’s current contract with the North Londoners is due to expire during the summer of 2020. This means that if he does not sign a new deal soon, the club should look to sell him this summer or else they will risk losing him cheaply next season or possibly for free if he runs down his contract.

At 27-years-old, Eriksen is now at the peak of his career. If an offer from Madrid comes around, it could very well appeal to him. He will be getting the opportunity to play for one of Europe’s premier clubs who regularly win trophies, something which Tottenham has failed to do since 2008 when they lifted the League Cup.

Balague said that Madrid may move for Eriksen this summer. “Zinedine Zidane could be in charge of Real Madrid from today. Zidane also wants the likes of Hazard, and perhaps even Eriksen. He will get given all the sporting authority, and all the things he suggested in the summer, that Florentino Perez did not want to do, most of them will be done now” he wrote on Twitter.
