Aston Villa announced the loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause until the end of the season on Monday, and their fans have been reacting to the deal on social media.

Villans boss Dean Smith has finally got the chance to mould his squad to suit his style, and is expected to be busy with players both coming into Villa Park and some leaving this month.

One obvious area of weakness in his Villa side is their defence, where they have been exposed a few times in the Championship this term, and already for the former Brentford manager has addressed that issue.

Hause has a good reputation at Wolves, and heads to the Villans having made 67 league appearances in his time at Molineux, although this term he has been restricted to featuring in just two Carabao Cup ties.

Villa have an option to sign the 23-year-old at the end of the season if both parties agree that it is the right move, so the Smith overhaul defensively is well underway.

Hause is a former England under-21 international, which means he brings a quality pedigree on the short trip to the Villans with him, and will be looking to make a huge impact over the second half of the campaign.

The defender could make his debut for Villa immediately, as he is eligible to face Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium at the weekend, and he may well have other new teammates to play alongside.

Although it was obvious that their defence had to improve, Villans fans are impressed at how quickly Smith has addressed that area, and are looking forward to seeing their new man in action.

Many of those supporters welcomed the defender to Villa Park when reacting to the transfer on social media on Tuesday, with plenty wishing him well in his time in Birmingham.
