Glasgow Rangers and Celtic fans have ripped into Scott Allan after he signed this week for Hibs, and he took the opportunity to talk about the way he was treated at the Hoops.
Allan joined Hibernian from West Bromwich Albion and was a tremendous success in his first season playing for the Easter Road club.
He became their best player and each time he played against Rangers – his boyhood heroes – Allan was always superb and reportedly has been a transfer target for the Ibrox club.
A lot of people in Scotland don’t realise that Hibs are every bit as bitter and firmly against Rangers as their rivals Celtic are.
Scott Robertson has stated that Hibs blocked Allan’s move from the Easter Road outfit to Rangers in 2015, much to the disappointment of the boyhood Gers fan.
Allan was caught between two clubs who couldn’t agree the transfer.
On 14 August 2015, Allan signed a four-year deal with the Hoops, much to the annoyance of Rangers and their fans.
It was an underhand deal that shouted out – we are Celtic and are miles ahead of you financially, on and off the park, we’ve got you beat and you won’t catch us.
Celtic already had enough quality midfielders at the club, so even the Parkhead fans couldn’t understand why they wanted Allan.
The truth is coming out now about the despicable behaviour served upon him at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training centre.
Both sets of fans are mocking Rangers fan Allen, who ended up signing for Celtic after Hibs said no – to helping the Ibrox side become better.
In the four years since Celtic bought Allen, he only started three matches, plus 14 times as a sub. It cost the Hoops a lot in wages for very little return.
Alan Stubbs took Allan on loan to Rotherham for the 2016–17 season, but he did not do well down south and was dropped for his lack of effort.
He returned to Celtic earlier than planned from Rotherham, but was never picked to play for the Hoops as his money continued to be paid, as per his contract.
Allan needed games and joined Dundee in June 2017 and by January 2018, it was decided that going back to Hibs on loan might suit him better.
Allan’s career has floundered badly since joining Celtic and they had to pay him four years wages for being a complete failure.
The midfielder has spoken out about his torrid time at Parkhead and claimed the Hoops acted unprofessionally throughout his time at the club.
“In football, when you are playing, you are part of the squad. When you aren’t part of that, it is easy to be cast aside and forgotten about,” he told the Daily Record.
“But it should be structured. If they want you to train with one group, you should be told: “Right, you’re training with them. Every day.
“But it changed day to day. So it became a guessing game, where you were going to train – then you’d find out 10 minutes before it started.
“It ended up me and Gamboa just being told: ‘You guys are in the gym.’
“I felt I dealt with it really well, kept my head, didn’t chuck my toys out of the pram and stayed professional.”
Twitter is awash with Rangers and Celtic fans ridiculing him relentlessly and giving him no pity. Allan eventually made an unacceptable decision and all for what?
