Nottingham Forest produced the shock of the Third Round of the FA Cup over the weekend when they dumped Arsenal out in a 4-2 victory and fans reacted with delight with the performance of one of their stars on social media.
The Reds took the lead through Eric Lichaj after the defender had a free header from a free-kick inside the first 20 minutes, however, found themselves level just three minutes later when Per Mertesacker converted.
The United States of America international then restored the home side’s lead just before the half-time whistle with an exquisite volley from the edge of the box.
Forest were then awarded a penalty after a clumsy challenge from Rob Holding, which Ben Brereton, who was later named Man of the Match, struck past David Ospina.
Danny Welbeck put the Gunners back into the tie with a late strike past Jordan Smith, however, the City Ground outfit were awarded another penalty by Jon Moss, which Kieran Dowell converted despite slipping.
Joe Worrall was then shown a red card, however, Gary Brazil’s side managed to hold on for a famous win against last year’s Cup winners.
Fans took to social media to praise their team for the memorable victory and were full of praise for Matty Cash.
Supporters were delighted with the effort from the attacker, stating that they had felt it was the best game he had played for Forest and could not wait to see him in action in their next match, which is a lunch-time kick-off with Aston Villa in the Championship next Saturday.
