‘Feel like a proud dad’, ‘Criminally underrated’ – These Leeds fans gush over ‘absolutely awesome’ player

A number of Leeds United fans took to Twitter to wax lyrical over the recent performance of Gaetano Berardi.

The Whites managed to overcome the challenge of Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday night via Mateusz Klich’s sole goal.

The victory meant that they would close the gap between them and West Bromwich Albion back to four points at the top of the Championship table, whilst also returning them to a five-point cushion from closest rivals Fulham in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot.

Indeed, Berardi was a player who featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s side heavily in the game and many of the club’s faithful appeared to feel he played a huge role in helping them to seal all three points on the night.

The Swiss defender may have only been able to win one aerial duel throughout the game (per WhoScored), however he also was defensively solid and helped out Liam Cooper alongside him at the back.

The 31-year-old might only have made one tackle but he also managed to read the game well as he created five interceptions, made two clearances and blocked two shots from the Middlesbrough players (per WhoScored).

As mentioned, fans took to Twitter in their droves to gush over his recent display, with many seemingly impressed with what they saw from Berardi.

Many of them appeared to point out that he was extremely disciplined, which was a fresh breath of air for some of them – perhaps with his record of the eight red cards he has received in his time at Elland Road (per TransferMarkt).

Here are what just some of the club’s faithful had to say about Berardi’s most recent display for the Whites…
