Former Premier League player John Fashanu has said that he believes Glasgow Rangers ace Joe Aribo has a very bright international future.
“He is going to be one of our key players for years. He’s been doing very well for Rangers and has been exceptional since his debut for Nigeria,” said Fashanu as quoted by The Scottish Sun.
“Joe is going to be targeted by the opposition because they know what he can do. It’s important he is used properly by us because he’s vital for the team.”
The 23-year-old Rangers star was impressive for the Nigerian national team during their 4-2 African Nations Cup qualifier against Lesotho on Sunday.
Aribo joined Rangers last summer from Charlton Athletic and has since gone on to play ten times in the Scottish Premier League for the Gers and joined one goal.
Aribo is likely to be a key part of Steven Gerrard’s side who will be looking to win the Scottish Premiership and impress in the Europa League this season.
The midfielder’s move to Rangers has proven to be good from his perspective as it has allowed him to improve as a player.
He may even get a chance to add some silverware to his name this season, something which probably would have not happened had he remained with Charlton.
Aribo’s former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer advised against a move to the Gers as he felt that it would be a move which would see the player taking a backwards step in his career.
If Aribo continues to impress this season, Rangers may have to brace themselves to potentially receive offers for him next summer.
The player himself is likely to want to have the opportunity to ply his trade in one of Europe’s top five leagues at some point.
