Celtic made it through to the final of the Betfred Cup with a 5-2 win over Hibernian on Saturday, and after the match their fans poured plenty of love on a key man on social media.
The Bhoys are attempting to secure another domestic treble this term, and moved to within one win of achieving the first leg of that, when they took care of the Edinburgh outfit at Hampden Park.
It is a busy week for Celtic, as they continue their quest for European silverware on Thursday night, but before then it was all about making it through to another cup final at home, a job they completed with a fair amount of ease on a great night of football.
It was on loan attacker Mohamed Elyounoussi who opened the scoring for the Bhoys, and they were two up after 20 minutes when Callum McGregor doubled their advantage.
Hibernian got themselves back into the contest 10 minutes from half time, but it was Celtic who took a two goal lead to the dressing room with them, when the Morocco international picked up his second of the evening.
The Bhoys put the game to bed on 56 when captain Scott Brown got himself onto the scoresheet, and although Neil Lennon’s former side threatened to make life interesting with another goal, it was the leader of the Glasgow giants who rounded off the scoring in injury time.
That was the first time the Celtic stalwart had scored a double for the club in five years, and the hero of the Scottish champions received plenty of love for his efforts on social media after the final whistle.
