Leeds United cruised into the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening when they beat Salford City 3-0, and after the match their fans were full of praise for one of their new signings.
The Whites have had a positive start to their campaign, and even though their boss Marcelo Bielsa made a raft of changes to his starting XI, the Championship side showed their class and breezed into the next stage of the competition.
Leeds could have been in danger of being upset by big spending Salford if they were not careful, but in the end class prevailed as the Yorkshire outfit ran out easy winners.
The Whites had to battle for the early dominance in the match, with the majority of the first half a pretty tight affair, but it changed two minutes before the break when Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah fired them ahead.
It became a much easier assignment for Leeds in the second half, and early strikes from Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich had put the game to bed for the Yorkshiremen.
Although the Whites did not add to the scoreline after the third went in, they showed good professionalism to see the game out without any issues, to book themselves a second round clash with fellow Championship side Stoke City later in the month.
Although there were a number of standout performances in the contest, it was the new signing who was making his full debut who was the centre of attention for the Leeds fans, when they reacted to social media after the game.
All eyes were on Nketiah to see if he will be the man to fire the Whites back to the big time, after the Elland Road outfit sold Kemar Roofe last week. The early stages are that he could just be exactly that.
Here are some of their messages:
Bamford’s confidence is shot to pieces we need to take him out the limelight start Nketiah on Saturday #lufc

New boys hitting the ground running; 2 assists for Costa and the first of many goals for Nketiah. White continues to be superb, Kalvin just doing what he does and Shacks proving again what a talent he is. Was impressed with Davis too. Genuinely delighted, on to Wigan💪🏻 #LUFC

Knowing Leeds we still won’t start Nketiah and Costa on Saturday but bloody hope we do 🤞 #LUFC

The thought of Bamford playing when we've seen what Nketiah is all about makes me ill! Got to be in that starting line up on Saturday! #lufc

Im buzzing about Eddie Nketiah. Fox in the box, getting in the right positions, exactly what we need. #lufc

I could get used to Costas movement and ball across to Nketiah to tap it in from 2 yards #LUFC

Good win tonight against a dogged team fully up for it, often a banana skin for us in the past. Lots more to come from Costa and Nketiah. Just love @Kalvinphillips – could’ve made a fuss, pushed for a move (like Woods) and been gone. Still ours, still #lufc

Very positive to see all three new signings doing exactly what we brought them in to do tonight. White absolutely flawless, Costa creating chances & Nketiah getting a crucial finish when the match needed a goal. Hopefully we’ll see more from all three very soon. #lufc
