Everton youngster Nathan Broadhead had his team mates applauding him during their pre-season training camp in Switzerland, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The 21-year-old curled an effort into the top corner, leaving the Toffees number one Jordan Pickford helpless, which was met by applause from members of the senior squad.
Broadhead has travelled with the Everton first team for their pre-season camp, and is vying for a place in Marco Silva’s squad come the start of the Premier League campaign.
The Toffees boss is searching for a new striker, which has given the youngster an opportunity to prove he may be the man for the job.
Broadhead showcased his ability during Everton training, and will be hoping he can build on that during their pre-season campaign.
The 21-year-old forward is considered as one of the club’s biggest young talents, with a bright future expected at Goodison Park.
The only glimpse Everton fans have had of Broadhead came back in 2017, as he made his only first team appearance to date as substitute in a 3-0 victory over Apollon Limassol in the Europa League.
While the youngster is highly regarded at the club, the chances of him leading the Toffees’ line this season are slim as they are still managing the transfer market.
Everton are hoping they can bring in a big name striker before the start of the Premier League season, as they have been in desperate need of a prolific goal scorer for some time now.
While Broadhead is clearly showing signs of quality in Switzerland with the first team, Silva will want a more experienced name to take on the burden of leading his team’s attack this season.
Everton fans may seen more of the youngster in the future, however they will be hoping to see the club spend big on a new striker during the current transfer window.
