Everton have tabled an £11.5million bid for World Cup star Domagoj Vida, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.
The Besiktas defender has played a pivotal role in Croatia’s outstanding start to the competition, as they qualified for the knockout stages with a group game to spare.
Reported Everton target Vida started at centre-back in wins over Nigeria and Argentina, with his performances catching the eye of Toffees boss Marco Silva.
The 29-year-old hasn’t enjoyed the best of season’s leading into the World Cup though, as he left Dynamo Kiev on a free transfer in January.
He went on to start just seven league games for Besiktas, making 14 appearances in total and scoring in a 3-1 win over Fenerbache.
Any Everton fans that caught a glimpse of Vida during the Champions League may be sceptical about the move, as he was sent-off in a 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
His international displays have attracted interest though, with West Ham United also looking to land the central defender.
The last time the Toffees did business with Turkish side Besiktas, they brought Cenk Tosun to Goodison Park for £27m in January.
The 27-year-old Everton striker managed 12 starts in the league, coming off the bench on a further two occasions, and found the net five times.
Tosun struggled to impress under Sam Allardyce and will be hoping to show improvements under the stewardship of Silva.
If Everton are to land Vida they will be looking for immediate impact, and will be hoping his World Cup performances continue into the Premier League.
