Everton have been linked with a potential January move for Uruguayan player Edgar Elizalde of Pescara, according to FC Inter News.
The Toffees are believed to have expressed an interest in signing the youngster, even though he is yet to fully break through with the Italian club.
The 18-year-old is picking up plenty of attention from some big outfits across Europe, with Everton said to be chief among them.
Clubs the size of Juventus have also been claimed to be tracking the versatile talent, so the Toffees will have to pull out all of the stops if they are to land their man next month.
Elizalde arrived in Italy in 2017 from Montevideo Wanderers, but to date the Everton target has only made one appearance for the Serie B side.
He is however due to represent his country at the under-20 South American championship in January where a number of scouts worldwide are expected to watch him, including those of the Toffees.
Marco Silva is seeing his defence as a work in progress, and while he is probably happy with the options he has for the Everton back line, signing extra depth, and young talents at that, is very much the order of the day for him.
He has Lucas Digne who can play there for the Toffees, and who is settling in well at Goodison Park, but there isn’t a huge amount of competition for that place, with speculation linking Leighton Baines with a move away never too far from being prominent again.
It appears to be seen just how strong the Everton interest in the Uruguayan defender is, as it hasn’t actually been determined just yet. It could be that they will wait and see him in action for his country before committing to signing him or not, but if they do decide to follow up their intrigue they will face strong competition for his services.
