Everton are aiming to sign striker Salomon Rondon at the end of the season, according to a report published by The Daily Star.
The Venezuela international is on loan with Newcastle United this season from Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion. He has been good so far for the Magpies and is their highest scorer in the Premier League this season with nine goals to his name.
The report added that Newcastle will need to fork out around £16 million if they want to secure the services of Rondon on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Whether the Magpies are willing to spend that amount of money remains to be seen.
It is well documented that Everton have struggled to have a top-quality forward in attack since Romelu Lukaku left the club in order to join Manchester United ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Since then the Toffees have tried playing Sandro Ramirez, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun up front but none have really been particularly impressive.
Everton manager Marco Silva has resorted to deploying Richarlison as a false-nine this season.
The Brazilian has largely impressed as he has gone on to score 12 goals in the Premier League from 29 games. The Brazilian however is naturally suited to playing out wide and this is where Everton must deploy him in the long-term in order to ensure that they get the best out of him.
While Rondon is not the most naturally gifted striker, the reported Everton target is a hard-worker and at 30-years-old, he has a lot of experience to his name and is a proven goal scorer at the highest level.
