Everton beat Crystal Palace 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Goodison Park and fans were delighted with the showing of a key midfielder on social media.
The win moved the Toffees nine points clear of the relegation zone and Sam Allardyce will be pleased with the reactions his players showed following their heavy 5-1 defeat to Arsenal last time out.
Gylfi Sigurdsson opened the scoring just moments after the restart when he saw his shot deflect off James Tomkins, with Oumar Niasse doubling the lead five minutes later.
The Senegal international headed his eighth goal of the season before Tom Davies confirmed all three points would remain in Merseyside.
The visitors were offered a lifeline when Luka Milivojevic scored his second penalty in as many games, however, the Toffees managed to hold on.
Idrissa Gana Gueye was named Man of the Match for his performance, an opinion echoed by many of the Goodison Park faithful shared on social media.
Fans took to Twitter to state that the Senegal international had been one of the best players on the pitch and had been a level above.
The midfielder had made a reputation for himself as one of the best in his position last season, however, he had struggled to replicate much of that form earlier this season.
Evertonians will be pleased to see Gueye producing the kind of performance they have come to expect and will be hopeful the knock he appeared to pick up is not too concerning.
Here are some of the best reactions found on Twitter:
#EFC fully deserving of the win today. Still huge problems all over the pitch but Walcott, Rooney, Gana & Pickford played very well.
A big win as well to keep us away from the mess below & put us bizarrely just 2pts off 7th with a run of winnable games to come. ðŸ‘🻠#COYB #UTFT

Sigurdsson Davies and Walcott getting a lot of praise tonight on Twitter. Gana and Rooney were also excellent making sure the advanced players got a chance to do their job. #efc

Looked good today.Davies & Gana are total class. My team for next game would have Rooney & Gana holding & Davies just between them.
Sigurdsson & Walcott wide and although Niasse was a nuisance I’m not sure if I’d have him ahead of DCL who holds it up way better #EFC #NSNO #COYB
