Everton fans saw January signing Cenk Tosun continue his good recent scoring run by notching the two goals which took them to a rare away victory at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees made their way to the Bet365 Stadium with a poor record on their travels since the turn of the year, but after a win over Brighton last week there was renewed optimism about them heading into the contest.

One of the reasons for that was because Turkish forward Tosun, who Sam Allardyce spent big money on to bring to Merseyside in the January transfer window, has begun to look something like the man that Everton thought they had signed.

The striker scored the second goal in the win against the Seagulls at Goodison Park last week and then he went a little further in a very good performance against the Potters on Sunday.

After a quiet beginning to the game in the Midlands, in which Stoke were reduced to ten men when Charlie Adam was dismissed for a reckless lunge on Wayne Rooney, it took Everton until the 69th minute to open the scoring.

It was Tosun who was in the right place at the right time to break the deadlock, and after Paul Lambert’s men had levelled up proceedings, the Turk was on the spot again to seal the win and round off what was a very good performance from him.

The 26-year-old arrived in Liverpool from Besiktas with a good reputation for scoring goals, but after failing to find the net in his first four matches, he is now on a hot streak having scored four times in his last three outings.

The two he bagged to beat Stoke were his most valuable pair thus far and the Everton fans certainly enjoyed them, and his overall play, judging by their posts on social media after the final whistle.
