Everton have the chance to do the other half of Merseyside a big favour on Wednesday night, when they host title chasing Manchester City in a huge Premier League match at Goodison Park, and they have two men back for the contest, according to BBC Sport.
This match probably comes at a bad time for the Toffees, who are in pretty ordinary form right now, with the pressure really beginning to mount on their boss Marco Silva.
Everton followed up a narrow win at Huddersfield last week, with a meek surrender at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, and there are fears they could be cut open at will by Pep Guardiola’s men.
There are all sorts of conspiracy theories doing the rounds as to whether the Toffees will be looking to win, knowing that victory will assist their bitter rivals Liverpool in their challenge for an elusive Premier League title.
I very much doubt Everton would admit to it, even if deep down they would be quite happy to give City the advantage in their bid to retain the top flight trophy.
The Toffees will welcome left-back Lucas Digne back from injury for the clash, while midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has recovered from the knock which saw him miss the Wolves defeat, and he is expected to go straight back into the side.
Silva will be without the Everton trio of Phil Jagielka, Yerry Mina and Leighton Baines for the visit of the champions however, which could see the Goodison outfit a little vulnerable in defensive areas of the pitch.
You would think the Toffees will need to take the game to their more illustrious opponents in this match, as their defence is not doing a solid enough job to keep City at bay at the present time. That should make for an entertaining encounter for fans to witness, regardless of the outcome.
